MobileMe users given 1 year extension on free storage.

In a gesture of appreciation, Apple last year increased the iCloud storage of recent Mobile Me buyers upon the company’s switch to iCloud. Now that about a year has passed, that extra storage was set to expire. However, in an email today to a former Mobile Me user, Apple has stated that it will be extending that extra storage for one more year:

When you moved your Mobile Me account to iCloud, we provided you with a complimentary storage upgrade beyond the standard 5GB that comes with an iCloud account to help you with the transition. Originally, this storage upgrade was set to expire on September 30, 2012.

As a thank you to our former Mobile Me members, we will continue to provide you with this complimentary storage upgrade at no charge, for an additional year, until September 30, 2013. No action is required on your part. For complete details, please read this article.

Thank you again for using iCloud,

iCloud Team

The extra storage given depends on how much storage the user was paying for with MobileMe – either 10, 20, or 50GB of additional storage.

Twelve South Releases The HiRise, It’s Pretty Sexy.

The fine folks over at Twelve South have just unveiled a brand new product, called the HiRise, for the iMac and Apple displays. The HiRise not only provides both hidden storage for anything you can fit in it, including a Mac mini, but it also lets you level our your Apple display and iMac so that they line up perfectly.

Leveling out your iMac and Apple display alone is worth the price of purchase. Seriously, I never understood why Apple designed the iMac and their displays to have different heights.

The HiRise now gives you out-of-sight storage on your desk, and when partnered with the BackPack 2 you can easily store a number of hard drives or iPods so that they don’t clutter up your desk.

We’ve got one on hand, and we’re putting it through its paces. We’ll have a review up shortly. But, if you’ve heard all you need to, you can pick the HiRise up for $79.99 on the Twelve South website.
